On Friday, August 29, 2025, the Asian Air Quality Operations Center by Space Technology, Geo-informatics & Environmental Engineering (AiroTEC), led by Asst.Prof. Dr. Ratchaphon Samphutthanont, Director of AiroTEC, together with Asst.Prof. Dr. Phathranit Kitthitinan and Ms. Patcharin Somput, conducted a field workshop at San Pong Subdistrict Municipality, Mae Rim District, Chiang Mai Province.
The workshop, titled “Tree Survey for Carbon Sequestration Assessment Using Geographic Information System (GIS) Mapping as a Model for Forest Resource Conservation in Mae Rim Communities, Chiang Mai”, aimed to provide practical knowledge and foster local engagement in forest preservation. This activity was carried out under the Plant Genetic Conservation Project Under the Royal Initiation of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn (RSPG), with collaboration from San Pong Subdistrict Municipality officials, community leaders, and local residents, who actively participated in learning and sharing ideas. The knowledge gained not only enhanced understanding of carbon sequestration assessment of trees but also inspired the community to work together in protecting and preserving their local forests for future generations.
