Chiang Mai Rajabhat University Signs MOU with the Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation to Exchange
Academic Knowledge and Extend the King's Philosophy
for Disaster Mitigation, Forest Fire, and Haze Issues
in Northern Thailand

Chiang Mai Rajabhat University, led by the Asian Air Quality Operations Center by Space Technology, Geo-informatics & Environmental Engineering (AiroTEC), is advancing efforts in air quality, climate change, and environmental sustainability. The university has partnered with the Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to exchange academic knowledge and apply the King’s Philosophy to drive air quality and environmental initiatives for maximum effectiveness. This aligns with the university’s mission to address environmental issues and ensure sustainable clean air for the people in Chiang Mai and northern Thailand. This initiative also coincides with the centennial celebration of Chiang Mai Rajabhat University under the theme “Zero Dust: A Century of Chiang Mai Rajabhat University”

 

The MOU signing ceremony took place on May 2, 2024, at the Andromeda Conference Room, Planetarium and Exhibition Building, National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) in Chiang Mai. Associate Professor Dr. Chatree Maneekosol, Acting President of Chiang Mai Rajabhat University, signed the MOU alongside Mr. Suphit Phithaktham, Director-General of the Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation, and Dr. Sarun Posayachinda, Director of the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (Public Organization). The event was honored by the presence of university executives and faculty members, including Associate Professor Dr. Sanya Sasong, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Assistant Professor Dr. Kittisak Chotikadachanarong, Dean of the Graduate School, and Dr. Akarasit Boonsongtae, Director of the Institute of Research and Development. The AiroTEC team included Dr. Ratchaphon Samphutthanont, Dr. Phathranit Kitthitinan, Dr. Chanet Wichasilp, and Dr. Piyawadee Nilsonti.
