The Asian Air Quality Operations Center by Space Technology, Geo-informatics & Environmental Engineering (AiroTEC) at Chiang Mai Rajabhat University recently welcomed a group of exchange students from Feng Chia University, Taiwan. This internship program is part of an academic collaboration between the GIS Research Center at Feng Chia University (GIS.FCU) and AiroTEC, aiming to foster knowledge integration in teaching, research, and innovation development in fields related to Geo-informatics Technology.

This partnership is designed to enhance the academic and professional capabilities of both faculty members and students through the application of modern geospatial tools and technologies such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing (RS), Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), the Internet of Things (IoT), and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

In 2025, the participating students come from diverse academic disciplines, including:

• Aerospace and System Engineering
• Urban Planning and Spatial Information
• Computer Science
• Communication Engineering
• Transportation and Logistics

Throughout the one-two month internship, the students engaged in hands-on learning activities, particularly through mini-projects that utilized the Design Thinking process to address real-world problems in the local context. In addition to their technical learning, the students had the opportunity to engage in cross-cultural exchanges with Thai students—both in the classroom and during fieldwork activities across Chiang Mai and neighboring provinces.

This collaboration marks a significant step for AiroTEC and Chiang Mai Rajabhat University in advancing international academic engagement, empowering students from both institutions, and creating a space for innovation that contributes to sustainable development in the future.
